General Considerations
1. Always make sure to troubleshoot one thing at
a time.
2. If you have any doubts with a wireless connection,
try to make a direct connection first.
3. If you can see the AwoX icon in the PC taskbar
but get no results, the software is running correctly
but there is an issue with the connections and /
or setup.
4. If your secondary output is not detected, make
sure your connections were OK before booting the
machine. TV output availability (from the system’s
point of view) may depend on the connections actually
made at boot time.
5. If you have problems with colors (output is black
and white or blurred) or image output quality or
position, the reason is probably with the video
standard used for TV output. Make sure your video
output standard (PAL, SECAM, NTSC, and variants)
is compatible with your TV.
6. If you see the same picture on your regular screen
and secondary output, you’ve forgotten to
check the “Extend” checkbox for the
secondary monitor or your hardware features “duplicate
outputs” only. Also try to update your video
drivers to the latest version.
7. Make sure that your video card supports DirectX
9. All recent cards are OK but some old ones might
not have support for this; check with the hardware
manufacturer for information and / or updates.
Troubleshooting
a “Direct Connection” configuration
Check
the following items:
1. Did you locate your plugs correctly?
2. Did you select the right inputs on your appliances?
3. Are you sure your secondary output is enabled?
Troubleshooting
a “Wireless Connection” configuration
If possible, try a direct
connection configuration first to know whether the
problem comes from the PC/WiFi side or analog A/V
signal transmission side. Also, you can try connecting
a proven A/V source (such as a camcorder or digital
camera) to the transmitter to isolate the A/V signal
transmission side.
The transmitters are powerful enough to work correctly
in most households environments. Some particular
building techniques can cause signal weakness or
perturbation, such as massive concrete. If you encounter
this issue, try moving the transmitters around,
changing locations and antenna orientations. Each
situation is particular.
Wi-Fi and A/V transmitters share the same 2.4 GHz
frequency band. This is not an issue since both
can be instructed to use different channels within
this band. If you suspect issues because of interferences
between the two systems (and this can happen), try
changing the channels on the A/V transmitters by
using the front pushbutton. Other devices such as
cordless phones and microwave ovens can also cause
interference because they also use the 2.4 GHz frequency
band.
Troubleshooting
Software
Obscure problems can appear
if you use a version of Windows that has strong
permission checks (“Pro” editions for
instance). In this case, make sure the user account
you’re installing with has local administrators
rights for the machine.
If for some reason you need to stop software (remember
that the Renderer can always be minimized through
the AwoX Icon left-click-”Hide Window”
popup), left-click on the Taskbar and select “Task
Manager”, “Processes” tab. Find
AwoX Media Server , select it and click “End
Process”. Do the same with AwoX Media Renderer.
Both will restart automatically at next logon.
